- What is the legal status of the Export Council for Food Industries?

- The Export Council for Food Industries was established in 1997 by Ministerial Decree No. 311 issued by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and began providing services to its members in March 2003.
- The Council acts as an advisory body to the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade and represents the community of food industry exporters before official government bodies.
- The Council aims to develop Egyptian food exports and enhance their competitive position in global markets through marketing services (promotional campaigns, international exhibitions, trade missions, etc.), capacity building through training courses, seminars, and workshops that the Council continuously organizes, keeping companies informed of all decisions, legislation, and developments related to the sector, and other activities.
- How to become a member?

- What are the required documents for membership?

- Manufacturing companies (Commercial Register - Tax Card - Exporters Register or Export Certificate - Industrial Register - ISO 22000). If the factory is included in the National Food Safety Authority's white list, please attach the list containing the factory's name to the membership documents.
- Companies leasing a production line from a factory (Commercial Register - Tax Card - Exporters Register or Export Certificate - ISO 9001 for the company - Production Line Lease Agreement - ISO 22000 for the factory from which the production line is leased). If the factory from which the production line is leased is included in the National Food Safety Authority's white list, please attach the list containing the factory's name to the membership documents.
- Export offices (Commercial Register - Tax Card - Exporters Register or Export Certificate - ISO 9001 for the company - ISO 22000 for the factory they work with).
- Should I pay the membership fee immediately after submitting the company's information and documents?

- After registration, the submitted documents are reviewed, followed by an inspection and review visit before the membership fees are paid. This process ensures compliance with food safety requirements (ISO 22000). It applies to companies (manufacturing plants) that are not included on the Food Safety Authority’s white list, as well as export offices that lease a production line.
- For export offices, the membership fees are paid directly without a visit.
- What is the fee for the inspection and review visit conducted prior to membership payment?

- Visit fee: 4,560 EGP, payable upon receipt from the Council.

Membership fees are paid according to the export statement received by the Council from the General Authority for Export and Import Control for the year preceding the year of membership, as follows:
- EGP 5,700 (for companies with exports from $0 to $1 million annually)
- EGP 7,125 (for companies with exports exceeding $1 million up to $5 million annually)
- EGP 9,946.50 (for companies with exports exceeding $5 million up to $10 million annually)
- EGP 22,800 (for companies with exports exceeding $10 million annually)
- Are membership fees subject to taxes?
- Membership fees include (14% VAT).
- What is the duration of the membership?

Membership in the Council is valid for one calendar year, starting from the date of subscription and ending on December 31 of the same year.

- Services of the Council's Food Safety Unit: (providing specialized training programs and workshops in the field of food safety, providing inspection and qualification services for factories operating in the food industry sector to meet food safety requirements, through a group of experts specializing in this field).
- Benefiting from the discount offered on analyses from the Central Laboratory for the Analysis of Pesticide Residues and Heavy Metals in Food (QCAP).

Yes, member companies receive discounts from certain entities, such as the Central Laboratory for the Analysis of Pesticide Residues and Heavy Metals in Food, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as benefiting from exclusive offers provided by service provider companies that are members of the council.
